Shayla Day to appear in the movie The Dark Knight

Shayla Day will appear in the Warner Bros. film The Dark Knight, the latest Batman movie starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger. The film hits theaters Summer 2008.

Shayla Day to appear in the movie The Express

Shayla Day will appear in the Universal Pictures film The Express starring Dennis Quaid and Rob Brown. The movie chronicles the life of Ernie Davis, the first African American to win the Heisman trophy. Davis was drafted to the NFL, but died from leukemia before he could make his professional football debut. The film is set to hit theaters in 2009.


Recent Events:

I recently was the guest speaker at the kickoff event for GIRL (Grow Into Responsible Leaders) in Decatur, Illinois. It was an amazing event and I had a great time. I spoke to the girls about following their dreams and achieving greatness despite obstacles. I want to thank everyone involved with the program and giving me the opportunity to be participate. Big thanks to Sonja Chargois who is the Membership/Diversity Consultant of Girl Scouts-Shemamo Council for all her hard work. Thanks to Courtney Walters Stewart, Exec. Director ot YWCA, Christine Pinkard, Dropout Prevention Decatur Public Schools, and Kelly Irwin, CEO of Girl Scouts Shemamo Council. There should be great programs like this all around the country. I also had the pleasure of meeting State Representative Bob Flider as well as Dr. Jeanelle Norman who is President of Decatur NAACP. I hope to work with Dr. Norman in the future.

I also want to thank all of the mentors for taking the time to be a part of such a wonderful event. Each of you is a blessing from God and all of your work and dedication is appreciated and admired.

I also want to salute all of the girls for wanting to be a part of the program. You are all truly special, unique, and talented young women, and your futures will shine bright. Keep on keeping on!

September 7, 2006--Author Shayla Day will participate at GIRL (Grow Into Responsible Leaders) for girls 7-12 grade sponsored by Girl Scouts in Decatur, Illinois. The GIRL Kick Off event is scheduled for Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Greater Decatur Y from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Shayla will speak to girls about her success story as a writer and entrepreneur, the importance of setting goals, following dreams, and striving for greatness.
